Since I took over as webmaster of I Hate Men, I've received a ton of e-mails and I noticed that several questions keep popping up over and over. So to save time, I created this FAQ. If, after reading it, you still have questions or comments, feel free to e-mail me.

Do You REALLY Hate Men?

No. Well, maybe some men. But I do not hate men simply because they are men. I do think a lot of men have some annoying traits: selective hearing, channel surfing, and difficulty communicating, to name a few. But hate? Nah.

Are you a lesbian or have you just been screwed over by a lot of men and are now bitter?

Neither. I'm happily married (to a man!) and I have a 2 year old son (Dakota) and a 8 month old son (Landon). I've only been really screwed over by a guy once and that was 15 years ago so no, I'm not bitter. It was a long time ago and I'm over it.

So Why the Site?

This site is for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. I cannot state this strongly enough. We do not advocate hate or hate crimes. And we do not single out men. (See I HATE WOMEN) This is a place for women to come together and vent about men who have treated them badly. And a place to find humor in your troubles. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

Why is it only BAD stuff about men?

Notice the name of the site: I Hate Men. There are plenty of sites on the net that glorify men. Feel free to check those out if that's the kind of thing that you want to see. Here, however, is kind of a haven for people with men problems. When a relationship turns out badly, do you really want to hear NICE stuff about the person? Nope. You want to rant & rave & vent and get it all out. That's why we're here. And, just for the record, there is a Pros page in the Pros & Cons.

What does your husband say about the site?

My husband has a sense of humor, unlike many of the men who e-mail me. He's also extremely intelligent and we laugh at some of the more stupid e-mail and IMs that I receive.

But you have two little boys, what about them?

First of all, I use my maiden name on the site so no press that I've received will be associated with my childrem. That is for the protection of myself, my husband, and our family.

Secondly, we are raising our sons to have good self-esteem and a sense of humor. These things will carry them far in life, keeping them from getting their feelings hurt or being threatened by anything they see or read, this site included. We are also raising them to be loving, caring individuals, and hope that they will not turn out like the men depicted on this site.

What should we expect to see in the future?

I'm busy gathering material and creating new pages. Here's what you can look forward to: new material on ALL the existing pages of the site, a weekly poll, a joint message board where you can argue with the guys on ihatewomen.com, news, pictures, a section devoted to women only, games, books, downloads, contests, a survey, the "Asshole of the month," and tons more stories and links.

Also, I'm interested in your input. This site is for all of us so if you have any ideas about what should be here, please let me know.

What will I receive if I sign up for the mailing list?

You will receive periodic information about the site. When a new section is added or a section is updated, we'll let you know. Also, occasionally, we'll have special material, such as jokes or quotes, just for our mailing list subscribers.

You will NOT receive any spam or advertisments and we do not furnish your e-mail address to other companies or organizations.

If I send you an e-mail, is it going to end up on the site?

Probably. If I think it's funny enough or interesting enough, I'm likely to put it up there. A large part of this site is made up of stories and comments from people like you. Not to mention the fun section of HateMALE from our male visitors. But I will never use your full name or e-mail address. Just your first name, initials, or however you sign your mail. And if you REALLY don't want what you sent put on the site, let me know and I'll respect that. Otherwise, everything is fair game.

Also, as is stated in the disclaimer: We reserve the right to use any e-mail, advice request, submission, or other information we receive in any way we deem appropriate. This may include, but it not limited to: advertising, promotions, and any for profit activities we pursue. However, names, e-mail addresses, and other contact information will be kept strictly confidential unless prior consent is given. We do not sell e-mail address to spammers and other marketing groups.

Do you edit or make up e-mail or IMs on the site?

Absolutely not. The only thing I do is correct spelling and punctuation on occasion to make it more readable. I do not change the content of e-mail or IMs and I do not make them up.

I sent you something for the site and you said it would go on there but I don't see it yet. Did you decide not to use my submission?

No. As you may know, between holidays and having my second child, I'm way behind on e-mail and updates. Sometimes I don't get to your e-mail for weeks. And the site updates are coming slowly but surely. Beside each link on the main page, there is a date of when the page was last updated. If you sent me something after that date, it just hasn't been added yet. However, if you sent something before that date but it isn't on the page, e-mail me. Occasionally, one or two things have gotten misplaced. But usually, it's just that I get so much material and am working as fast as I can to get it on the site.

This site seems to be only for heterosexual woman, is that true?

No! Granted, heterosexual females probably make up our largest audience because they have the most interaction with, and problems with men. However, we welcome ANYONE who hates men. In the Men That Hate Men section, we have feedback from men (of all sexual orientations) that hate men or have had problems with men. Lesbians have an advantage here, they spend less time with men than everyone else. But regardless of your sex or sexual orientation, you are welcome. You're also welcome whether you love the site or hate the site. We're an equal opportunity website.

The colors make me dizzy! When is the site getting a makeover?

As soon as possible! It gives me a headache too. I didn't design it originally and have focused mostly on content but a new look is coming soon.
